A Color For Every Mood

Color can evoke all sorts of emotions. Some studies say color conveys meanings in two primary ways - natural associations and psychological symbolism. Basically, we’re comfortable when colors remind us of similar things. For example, a soft shade of blue triggers associations with the sky and a psychological sense of calm.

It’s no shock that we decide what colors to wear based on the moods we are in. That’s why we’ve chosen very specific colors for our Sting By Henry Designs collection.

Pink

Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman’s cheeks. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood.

Pink Symbolizes: love and romance, caring, tenderness, acceptance and calm.
How the color pink affects us physically: Bright pinks stimulate energy and can increase body functions like the heartbeat. They also encourage action and confidence.
Interesting Fact: Since the color pink is said to have a tranquilizing effect, sport’s teams sometimes use pink to paint the locker room used by opposing teams.

Red

Red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting and the amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived. Red draws attention and a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element.

Red symbolizes: excitement, energy, passion, love, desire, power, heat, all things intense and passionate.
How red affects us physically: Increases enthusiasm, encourages action and confidence, provides a sense of protection from fears and anxiety.
Interesting Fact: Feng shui recommends painting the front door of a home red to invite prosperity to the residents.

Yellow

Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts.

Yellow symbolizes : joy, happiness, optimism, imagination, hope, sunshine, and friendship.
How the color yellow affects us physically: Stimulates mental processes and the nervous system, activates memory and encourages communication.
Interesting Fact: Yellow is psychologically the happiest color in the color spectrum.

Green

Green occupies more space in the spectrum visible to the human eye than most colors, and is second only to blue as a favorite color. Green is the pervasive color in the natural world, making it an ideal backdrop in interior design because we are so used to seeing it everywhere.

Green symbolizes: nature, environment, healthy, good luck, renewal, youth, spring, generosity, fertility, and sometimes jealous or envy.
How the color green affects us physically: Soothes, relaxes mentally and physically, alleviates depression and anxiety, and offers a sense of renewal and harmony.
Interesting Fact: Green is the color used for night-vision goggles because the human eye is most sensitive to and able to discern the most shades of that color.

Blue

Blue is the overwhelming “favorite color.” Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed. The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming.

Blue symbolizes: peace, tranquility, calm, stability, harmony, unity, trust, truth, confidence, loyalty, sky, water.
How the color blue effects us physically: calms and sedates, cools, aids intuition.
Interesting fact: People are often more productive in blue rooms.
