Finding a Diamond in the Rough

image

Here at Henry Designs, our experts take the time to select only the best diamonds for our jewelry. We pride ourselves on ensuring that we use nothing but the best diamonds, following a specific criteria and hand-review for each diamond we use - something we like to call the 4 C’s of diamonds. Diamond Cut Most people consider the cut of a diamond to be the most important characteristic in determining its quality. It’s also what makes them sparkle! The cut grade is a describing factor for how well light flows through the diamond, based on what shape the diamond is cut in, as well as what type of equipment was used.

Cut quality ranges from signature ideal (top-of-the-line) all the way down to “poor cut” (so deep and narrow the light flows out the sides and bottom and diamond appears dull). Diamonds with a better cut grade not only have more sparkle, but also give the diamond its value; i.e., better cut = higher price.

Diamond Color The second most important factor in evaluation of a diamond’s value is its color - or lack of color. Colorless diamonds are considered to be the most valuable. As the size of the diamond increases, the color becomes more important because flaws can be more easily identified. Diamond Clarity Clarity is a measure of both the number and size of the tiny imperfections that occur in almost all diamonds. You’ve probably heard clarity referred to in terms like “flawless,”“imperfections,” or “blemishes.” These imperfections are usually minor, and generally diamonds are selected that appear to be “eye-clean” or clear to the eye. Carat A “Carat” is the measure of a diamond’s weight, and by itself may not actually reflect a diamond’s size. To understand diamond size, carat weight should be considered as a measurement of both the distance in millimeters across the top of the diamond along with the cut grade. (For instance, two diamonds that are the same width across may be deeper in both height and length.) Putting It All Together Combine the steps above together and of you can find a beautiful looking stone within your budget. We use them everyday at Henry Designs to bring our customers the finest pieces around.

Every Girl Deserves a Diamond Ring

Did you know that the custom of giving and receiving rings dates back more than 6,000 years? With a timeline so long, tracing exact history can be quite difficult.

Regardless of how long it’s been around, it’s hard to deny the mysticism behind the symbolism and style influence of rings. Just a few of the reasons people wear the jeweled lovelies include:

  • Protection
  • Commitment
  • Religion
  • Sobriety
  • Milestones
For every bearer, rings come in all forms, whether it’s a family heirloom or the perfect fashion accessory to complete an outfit.

Here at Henry Designs, we admire the comfort a ring can bring to a person, and take that into consideration while crafting each and every one of our designs, like the ones you see pictured in this post.

Shown above is our 5.6 carat Single Prong “Cluster” Diamond Ring in 18k white gold. This limited edition ring consists of 85 brilliant diamonds - quite the show stopper! Measure Your Ring Size One of the most frequent questions we get as jewelers, is “How do I measure my ring size?” Follow some of these tips to find out your size, or download the chart below for more details!

  • Step 1: Cut a thin strip of paper, no longer than 3 inches, that you can wrap around your finger.
  • Step 2: Wrap the paper around your finger. Make sure the paper is below the joint of your finger and close to your knuckle.
  • Step 3: Mark the spot where the paper comes together, and measure the distance with your ruler.
  • Step 4: Use the following chart to determine your ring size. Rings also come in half sizes, the measurements of which, of course, will fall somewhere in between the whole sizes.

If you’re still in doubt, download a printable ring size chart online, like this one. Ringing in a new season

Welcome to The Henry Designs Animal Kingdom

“One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art…” Oscar Wilde says it best, and here at Henry Designs we take it to heart by creating works of art designed only to enhance our already-fabulous clientele. Contrary to Mr. Wilde, however, we believe every customer has the ability to both BE a work of art and WEAR a work of art! Our Muses As you browse through all of our elaborate collections, you might notice a wide variety of animal-influenced pieces, available in both small and big accessories. No matter what size, all dynamic pieces are detailed and fully capture the look and feel of your favorite creatures and emblems.

Where did inspiration for our pieces come into fruition?

One of the most common questions we get here at Henry Designs is, “where do you get the inspiration for your pieces?” Believe it or not, we are absolutely fascinated with the animals and natural beauty found in mother nature.

Just like diamonds, everything from a small beetle to a massive elephant (or in our case, mini elephant) inspires our crafters to breathe new life into our creations, modeled by the animals that intrigue us the most. The Collection

Both animal and jewelry lovers alike can’t get enough of our mini line. All pieces show off our talent in creating the most realistic representation of an animal. Whether it’s a glamorized creepy crawler or a mesmerizing sea creature, the possibilities of these animals nestling around your neck are endless.
